DAYTON, WA – Three finalists are moving forward in the search for the next superintendent of Dayton School District.  Following a formal search process that began last fall, the Dayton School Board of Directors have recommended the following superintendent candidates:

  • Effie Dean, Assistant Superintendent, Royal School District, WA
  • Guy Strot, Principal, Kalama School District, WA
  • Andie Webb, Principal, Hoquiam School District, WA

The top three candidates are scheduled to participate in final district interviews with Dayton’s administrative staff and school board members on February 10, 2020. An open community forum will be held that same evening from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the Dayton High School Auditorium. All Dayton staff and residents are encouraged to attend the community forum where they will be able to hear from each candidate.

Current superintendent, Doug Johnson, announced his planned retirement in November 2019.  The Dayton School Board will meet to deliberate that evening following the interviews, with a formal announcement identifying the successful candidate expected by February 19, 2020. The individual selected as superintendent of Dayton School District will begin his or her position on July 1, 2020.
