School Board Appreciation Month
Five citizens coming together to serve as board of directors providing direction to the community’s public school system is the short summary of what being a school board member is all about. Behind that statement is a level of commitment which deserves to be recognized. School board members in our community serve the needs of students, employees, parents, and community members. As a group they take on the challenges which come every school year with an eye to the future.
These citizens elected by the voters commit themselves to the challenges of understanding and supporting policy, hiring personnel, setting goals, making financial decisions, caring for facilities, negotiating contracts, all the while watching and waiting for children to complete their education here in Dayton.
Please take an opportunity to thank those who have been or are current school board members. Their leadership and commitment help create and sustain a great educational opportunity for students in Dayton.
Current Board members are Katie Leid, Dave Bailey, Justin Jaech and Fred White. The Board is missing a fifth member and are actively seeking a person who lives within the District 3 boundaries. If you are interested in becoming a board member please consider contacting Superintendent Johnson for more information or talk with one of the current board members.
