SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION 

The following is a list of scholarships that are available to Dayton High School Students (and in some cases DHS Alumni). For more information or application materials please contact Jana Eaton, Scholarship Coordinator, in the administration office at 509-382-2543 or email janae@daytonsd.org.

***please follow due date guidelines. turn in scholarship applications early so they can be checked for errors and to make sure all of the information is complete. turn them in to jana eaton in the admin office.

It is very important that you read each application carefully. Make sure that you read the criteria for each scholarship and make sure that you submit all application materials requested and follow directions for required application information. REMEMBER TO SIGN YOUR LETTER OF APPLICATION BEFORE SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION!!!


ARCHER RANCH SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a graduate of Dayton High School based on merit, need and the honest desire to further one's education at any institution of higher learning including trade schools. Individuals having a desire to come back to Columbia County after completion of their education will be given high consideration.

DAYTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior or DHS Alumni from past years providing applicant can prove financial need.

DAYTON BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors that meet 4 of the 5 following criteria: Have participated in at least five extra-curricular activities/clubs over four years of high school; family/senior has participated in at least one Dayton Booster Club fund raiser; citizenship in school and community; transcript of grades; parent/guardian(s) are members of the Dayton Booster Club (not required if you can meet the other 4 criteria).

HOMESTEAD SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior or Alumni with a need for financial assistance to continue with school. Must be accepted for fall enrollment at an accredited two or four year college or university in the State of Washington, be planning to pursue a course of study in Health Services, Education or Agriculture, and must have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or be showing academic improvement.

KENNETH G. AND SHIRLEY M. GOLLIHER SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior who will be attending a community college or vocational/trade school.

MERWIN F. & ALETHEA M. NEACE AND FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors who have a 3.0 GPA or above and are planning to obtain advanced training in an accredited college, university or trade school.

DAYTON HOSPITAL AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior or alumni planning to pursue a degree in the medical, i.e. nursing, medical school, dentistry, physical therapy, etc.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating senior girl planning to attend or already attending a college or university (open to alumni).

DAYTON LIONS CLUB ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior who has been accepted into a college or university and has a grade point average of 3.2 or better. See scholarship application for further qualifications.

DAYTON LIONS CLUB VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior planning to attend or already accepted by a vocations/technical school; defined as a two year or less vocational/technical program.

DAYTON LIONS CLUB CONTINUING EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a Dayton High School graduate who has completed at least one scholastic year in an accredited academic or vocational program.

FLOYD L. AND EUGENIA DARNELL NORGAARD SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior and alumni. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward those students who exhibit outstanding achievement while in high school and to promote future academic endeavors at an approved college, university, or trade school.

DAYTON/COLUMBIA COUNTY FUND SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors and is based on citizenship, scholarship, integrity, need and future educational plans.

2020 SMART CHOICES SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The WIAA, Dairy Farmers of Washington, and Les Schwab Tires are pleased to announce the eighth annual Smart Choices College Scholarship which will recognize one female and one male high school student for their achievements in athletics/activities, the community, and the classroom with $5,000 college scholarships to the college or university of their choice.
In addition to the two $5,000 scholarship winners, eight finalists will receive $1,000 scholarships.
Applicants are required to fill out an online application and write a short essay or provide a personal statement video about “How you plan to use your education to benefit others.” Judging criteria is based on 35% athletic/activity excellence, 35% academic achievement, 15% leadership, 10% citizenship/community service, and five% on originality/creativity of the student’s essay or video.

KAY PRESTON COCHRAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to members of the senior class and is based on financial need, citizenship and student activities.

KIWANIS CITIZENSHIP AWARD
Available to a graduating senior and past Citizenship Award winners who meet the application criteria.

SPOKANE SEED - CORINNE WHEALY MCCABE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
Available to a child or grandchild of a Pacific Northwest area agricultural producer or landlord. Must be applying in order to fund tuition at a known university, community college or approved trade school. Must be a current high school senior, post graduate or graduate equivalent.

AG LINK SCHOLARSHIP
Open to graduating seniors at Dayton High School. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of academics, activities, citizenship and and short essay.

WALLA WALLA COMMUNITY COLLEGE STEM SCHOLARSHIPS
Available to students interested in the following STEM degree programs: Watershed Management/Natural Resources, Engineering, Energy Systems Technology & Agriculture: Plant and Soil Science.

ELK DRUG SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior planning to pursue a degree in business or a health care related field.

COLUMBIA COUNTY LIVESTOCK ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors and alumni whose parents or relatives are current members of the Association and are planning to pursue higher education.

ARNOLD FREDRICKSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Scholarship is open to graduating seniors and alumni planning to pursue a higher degree of education in the field of music. Graduating seniors will be given preference over alumni. In the event that a current year graduating student does not qualify based on the criteria, the scholarship may be open to Dayton Alumni students who are pursuing a music degree or course of study (i.e. possibly even students who have previously received the scholarship and are continuing their course of study).

WHETSTONE AG SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must be students or alumni from Dayton High School, who are completing, or who have completed, their senior year of high school. These students must be in good scholastic standing and have a desire to reach their educational goals in the area of Agriculture. Preference will be given to individuals enrolling in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Agriculture Systems at Walla Walla Community College. Scholarship is for $1000 per school year and prior recipients are encouraged to reapply each year.

COLUMBIA COUNTY AG IMPROVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior planning to pursue and education in agriculture.

BRANDON BARTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior or alumni with a minimum GPA of 2.0 or higher, some participation in community or school activities, and plans to attend a 2-year, 4-year or vocational institution of higher learning this next fall.

BANK OF EASTERN WASHINGTON SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a student planning to enroll in agriculture or business. Judging will be based on scholarship, leadership, & citizenship.

Available to all high school students planning to attend post secondary education.

OWEN & JAN AGENBROAD CONTINUING EDUCATION ASSISTANTSHIPS
Available to a graduating senior with the following criteria; Citizenship, community service, extra curricular activities, one of which must be in the school sports program, transcript of classes, and grade point minimum of 2.5.

COLUMBIA COUNTY FARM BUREAU/MONTIE LEIGHTY/WALLY ROBINS ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior who has been accepted into an accredited college or university or a college student continuing their education. Must have a family member or guardian with membership in the Columbia County Farm Bureau.

DAYTON/WAITSBURG COMMUNITY HEALTH FOUNDATION FUND SCHOLARSHIP
Available to students enrolling in an accredited institution offering a health care curriculum. The range of degrees and programs supported may include, but is not limited to, advance medical degree, pre-med degree, nursing, pharmacy, medical records, image technician, laboratory technician or mental health.

B.W. CASSEDAY, DAYTON CHEMICALS, INC. SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to a senior interested in the further study of agriculture with preference to those planning to study Agronomy.

FRANCES R. SPOONEMORE SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior currently attending Dayton High School whose academic performance places him or her with the upper 25% of his or her class.

GRACE SCRIBNER SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior planning to pursue a career in health care (doctor, nurse, physical therapist, etc.).
