SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION 

The following is a list of scholarships that are available to Dayton High School Students (and in some cases DHS Alumni). For more information or application materials please contact Jana Eaton, Scholarship Coordinator, in the administration office at 509-382-2543 or email janae@daytonsd.org.

***please follow due date guidelines. turn in scholarship applications early so they can be checked for errors and to make sure all of the information is complete. turn them in to jana eaton in the admin office.

It is very important that you read each application carefully. Make sure that you read the criteria for each scholarship and make sure that you submit all application materials requested and follow directions for required application information. REMEMBER TO SIGN YOUR LETTER OF APPLICATION BEFORE SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION!!!



BEN AND SUE DICKINSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Open to DHS seniors or Dayton graduates already attending a post-secondary institution. This scholarship is based on financial need, motivation to continue one's education and planning on attending a trade school, two-year college or four-year college or university.

JOHN ISRAEL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to DHS seniors and alumni planning to attend (or already attending) post secondary education at an accredited college or vocational school.

WASHINGTON STATE OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP
The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship (WSOS) is available for Washington students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, math, and health care. We provide students with up to $22,500 in scholarship funding towards a 4-year college degree and connect them with peer and professional mentors to help them achieve success from the first day on campus to their first day on the job.

WASHINGTON STATE GOVERNORS' SCHOLARSHIP FOR FOSTER YOUTH
Students who have been placed in Foster Care, Guardianship or Dependency Guardianship currently or until the age of 18. See eligibility requirements for more information.

ELKS VOCATIONAL GRANT (SCHOLARSHIP)
Available to seniors planning to pursue a vocational course/degree/program.

AWC CENTER FOR QUALITY COMMUNITIES SCHOLARSHIP
Available to students who are involved (or have been involved) with a city government and/or significant school leadership activity and plan to continue their education in the 2019-2020 academic year at an accredited college, community college or trade school on a half time or more basis.

NORTHWEST FARM CREDIT SERVICES SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to sons and daughters of Northwest FCS customers and their employees. High school seniors and current college students will be selected based on school and community involvement, scholastic performance and educational goals.

WSSR-FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
The Washington State School Retirees' Association (WSSRA) invites senior students of your school who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher to apply for the above scholarships. These awards are given to students who wish to have a career in the "field of education". Their degree could be in one of these majors: teacher, counselor, speech therapist, occupational therapist, or psychologist.

VERNON MARLL CHARITABLE TRUST SCHOLARSHIP
The grant will be available to any graduating senior or DHS Alumni. Criteria is based on financial need, character, and have at least a 2.0 GPA.

DAYTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is  available to any graduating senior or DHS Alumni. Criteria is based on financial need, character, and have at least a 2.0 GPA.

DON AND NANCY FIX SCHOLARSHIP
Available to seniors planning to attend a four year college or university in the fall of 2019. Scholarship is based on financial need, scholarship, outside employment, activities, challenge of academic courses, self motivation, work experience and leadership qualities.

JOHN HINCHLIFF/PHEASANTS FOREVER SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior of Dayton High School who is in good standing and intends to continue their education at a college, university, or trade school in a field related to natural resource management (e.g., wildlife management, forestry) or agriculture. Students pursuing a degree in other fields will be considered for this scholarship.

WARD & VERA HOSKINS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to DHS seniors who exhibit outstanding achievement while in high school and to promote future academic endeavors at an approved college, university or trade school. This scholarship is also open to alumni.

ELKS DAVE NICHOLAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to Seniors with a GPA between 2.2 and 3.2 and planning to attend a college or university in the fall.

DAYTON BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP
Available to DHS graduating seniors who meet the selection criteria.

BLUE MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Available to graduating seniors planning to attend college, university or trade/technical school in the fall. Student must create an account and complete an eligibility quiz to find out what scholarships they would be eligible to apply for/qualify. A sample of the questionnaire can be found below.

HOMESTEAD SCHOLARSHIP
Candidates for the Homestead Scholarship must:
 Be a graduating senior of Dayton High School.
 Be accepted for fall enrollment at an accredited two or four year college or university in the State of Washington.
Be planning to pursue a course of study in Health Services, Education or Agriculture.
Must have maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or be showing academic improvement.

MERWIN & ALETHEA NEACE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 
Available to graduating Dayton High School students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

FLOYD & EUGENIA NORGAARD SCHOLARSHIP 
Open to graduating seniors and alumni. The purpose of this scholarship is to reward those students who exhibit outstanding achievement while in high school and to promote future academic endeavors at an approved college, university, or trade school.

GUY & NYDA PRATER SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors and alumni who meet the scholarship requirements and submit a complete application (must answer the questions on the second page in full).

DAYTON HOSPITAL AUXILIARY SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors and alumni pursing a degree in the medial field, i.e. nursing, medical school, dentistry, physical therapy, etc.

COLUMBIA COUNTY FUND SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors of Dayton High School.

KENNETH G.  & SHIRLEY M. GOLLIHER SCHOLARSHIP
Available to  2019 Dayton High School graduates who will be attending a community college or vocational/trade school.

ARCHER RANCH SCHOLARSHIP
Available to graduating seniors and DHS alumni. Individuals having a desire to come back to Columbia County after completion of their education will be given high consideration.

ELK DRUG SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to any graduating senior of Dayton High School. The student must be accepted into a post-secondary education or training program. Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in business or a health care related field.

ANDERSON PERRY & ASSOCIATES SCHOLARSHIP
Available to a graduating senior. Must be planning to enroll in the fall of 2019 in an accredited two or four-year program of higher education.

KIWANIS CITIZENSHIP AWARD (SCHOLARSHIP)
The scholarship award is used to acknowledge a high standard of character and principles of good citizens at school, in home and community. The winning applicants are judged based upon evidence of character and citizenship, which they exhibit.

COLUMBIA COUNTY LIVESTOCK ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to children and relatives of current members. For qualification, you must be a graduating high school senior or a post graduate pursuing higher education.

WHETSTONE AG SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants must be students or alumni from Dayton High School, who are completing, or who have completed, their senior year of high school. These students must be in good scholastic standing and have a desire to reach their educational goals in the area of Agriculture. Preference will be given to individuals enrolling in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Sustainable Agriculture Systems at Walla Walla Community College.

BRANDON BARTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Available to Dayton High School Seniors and graduates. Must have a 2.0 GPA or higher and have had some involvement in community or school activities and plan to attend a two year 4 year or vocational institution of higher learning next fall.

DAYTON LIONS CLUB ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is available to any graduating senior of Dayton High School. The applicant must be accepted at a college or university. Applicants must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and taken college preparatory classes while in high school.

DAYTON LIONS CLUB VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
The grant is available to any graduating senior of Dayton High School. The applicant must be planning on attending or already accepted by a vocational/technical school; defined as a two year or less vocational/technical program.

DAYTON LIONS CLUB CONTINUED EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP (ALUMNI)
The scholarship is available to any graduate of Dayton High School (Alumni) who has subsequently completed at least one scholastic year (2 semesters or 3 quarters) in an accredited academic or vocational program.

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN
A Dayton High School graduating senior girl planning to attend or already attending a college or university. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.4.

OWEN & JAN AGENBROAD CONTINUING EDUCATION ASSISTANTSHIPS
The following criteria will generate points for the selection of the recipient. To be eligible the individual must have points in all of the criteria listed below over the 3 years of matriculation:
   1. Citizenship
   2. Community Service
   3. Extra Curricular Activities, one of which much be in the school sports program
   4. Transcript of Classes and GPA 
   5. Grade Point - Minimum of 2.5

FRANCES R SPOONEMORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is available to a graduating senior currently attending Dayton High School whose academic performance places him or her within the upper 25% of his or her class.

GRACE SCRIBNER SCHOLARSHIP
The scholarship is available to any graduating senior of Dayton High School who plans to pursue a career in health care (doctor, nurse, physical therapist, etc.)
