News from the Superintendent

Good afternoon,

I have included two attachments (links) in this article.  One is our monthly newsletter and the other is the presentation to the school board for my recommendations for changes needed within the district. The following are the highlights:

#1 Take a critical look at K-12 math curriculum and classes. – Essential

#2 Engage and support the MS/HS students in changing culture. – Essential

#3 Update the Ag/Metal/Wood shops and add a CAD Lab.

#4 Reorganize the administrative structure. – Essential

#5 Redo MS/HS Master Schedule and add elective classes and choices. – Essential

#6 Establish a partnership with Walla Walla Community College.

#7 Develop a financial plan for this fiscal year and next fiscal year. – Essential

The recommendations are based on information collected through surveys and data analysis. Our goal is to make Dayton School District the school of choice for our students and our community! The information from the original power point that was presented to the school board on February 16th has been updated to give an overview of the essential changes that this district needs to make in order to meet the needs of our students. The school board will review this information in their March 2nd board work session which will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the high school auditorium or via Zoom. For more information please visit our school board web page at https://www.daytonsd.org/page/...

If you have questions or would like more information please contact the district office at 509-382-2543 or email me at guys@daytonsd.org.

Together we can make Dayton School District a great place for ALL of our students.

Sincerely,

Guy Strot
Superintendent of Schools
