bulldog, stars, meeting information

S.T.A.R. Club has its initial meeting October 25 at 6 a.m. on the Upper Deck of the Gym. S.T.A.R. stands for Students Taking Active Roles and is coming to Dayton High School led by Staff Sergeant Michael Kavanagh. The S.T.A.R Club is a partnership with local high schools providing students leadership and character development opportunities.

Modeled after the JROTC, the S.T.A.R. Club is a school sanctioned club administered by the Army. The Army provides the program, the soldiers provide the structure, supervision and mentorship and a Faculty Advisor provides the point of contact and club oversight. This partnership has both Non-Military topics and Military-related topics.

The S.T.A.R. Club has many additional activities that provide support, mentorship, career exploration and tutoring. Tee-Shirts are provided to Club members but the fun is provided by the group as a whole. S.T.A.R. Club does not require any service obligation, recruitment for the Armed Forces or conduct any combat skills training.

Any student who is committed and willing to do their best and be part of a team can participate in the S.T.A.R. Club. For the best information, have your student show up to the first Club meeting! They will enjoy meeting Staff Sergeant Kavanaugh. Club meetings will be held every Tuesday from 6 - 7 a.m. on the Upper Deck.
