Information Alert update: Starting today, 1/11/2024, we will be adding KHQ, KXLY 920 AM and 100.7 FM to our update list for inclement weather. When weather happens, we will send out alerts, texts, calls, post to the website, Facebook and now TV and radio out of Spokane.
Most importantly, verify your cell number in Skyward to guarantee it is current. Also, check that your notifications are turned on for the Dayton app. Thank you for helping us keep everything up to date. Call the District Office with any questions.

Today we took part in the Great Shake Out, Earthquake and Evacuation drill. Student's and staff were alerted then listened to a minute-long recording that explained what to do and what to look for during an earthquake. After the drill we practiced the evacuation portion. Everyone did great and we are happy to report that all of our new tech and speakers, both inside and out, worked great.

Student-led Conferences are coming up. Next week, October 25-27 are the days set aside for this valuable conference to take place.
What are student-led conferences and how are they different from the traditional parent/teacher conference? Student-led conferences are all about Ownership, Communication and Collaboration between student, parent and advisor. The 20-minute session allows students to present their High School and Beyond Plan, share progress towards their goals, challenges they are facing and discussion around their strengths and weaknesses.
Student-led conferences are a great way for students to participate in their learning through every stage. It allows for collaboration and support around our future’s most valuable resources, our students.
Talk to your student to make sure they have confirmed the appointment time and be ready to engage, learn and support.
Don't forget tonight you can step into STEM and explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. All the hands-on fun begins at 5:30 in the Dayton Elementary Multipurpose Room. We can't wait to see you all!

The School Board Work Session that was scheduled for tonight has been cancelled. The next regular School Board meeting will be on October 18th at 6:30 p.m. in the High School Media Center (library) or via Zoom.
It's Gear Up! week and they have invited the #1 Youth Motivator, Jonathan Medina to come speak to grades 6-12 this Friday in the HS Auditorium from 11:15 - 12:15. Medina will present an engaging, lasting message of hope that should fuel students to recognize their dreams and encourage them to realize what they hold deep in their hearts. Community and families are welcome. See you there!

September 13 will bring the first in a series of Parent Information Nights. Dayton Middle & High School will host a series of topics over the school year and we hope you plan to attend. It is said that "Progress is impossible without change." This has proved to be true as we have rolled out online registration. Some of you may have encountered frustration today with registration sticking at the "Preferred Language" field. We have learned that Skyward platform upgraded overnight and some fields did not come along for the ride. The issue has been addressed and we are hopeful that it should allow you to continue in the registration process. Thank you for your patience as we change and and make progress forward.
Update on the phones - the district has new phones on order and we should be fully able to communicate soon.
We are looking forward to a great year and can't wait to see the students return for the first day of school this coming Tuesday, 8/29/2023.
